This week we would like you to write a recount about Cross Country day. How did you go? How did you feel? How did your training contribute to your performance? If you got through to HP or TV, what are your goals for that day?
Cross Country
Ngatea Primary School has previously had their annual Cross Country Running at South Farms. Everybody tried their best and had a great time. The Kids First committee had sausages and juices to raise money for the school. I managed to finish the race at first place which was my personal goal. I definitely think that the training around the block paid off. The race was tiring but really fun.
I managed to make it into Hauraki Plains running. On the way over I was so nervous because there were all of these great runners. I waited for my race and when I was at the start line I felt really nervous and sick. It was really hard to run but it was a fun race. I finished at first place which I was so happy about. It was a really great day.
I won Hauraki Plains so this meant I was going through to Thames Valley Cross Country. It was a long ride up and the roads were curvy so I got car sick. When I got there I felt happy that the ride was over and I could get some fresh air. I had butterflies in my tummy. It was time for my race and I was so nervous at the start. In the previous years, I had come second in Thames Valley Cross Country so I was determined to run at the best of my ability. Finally, the race started and I was in first place. About 40 seconds later a girl passed me. I ran super fast and got in front again. This was what happened the whole race. I definitely think that this was the fastest I had ever ran. I was in pain. It was neck and neck when we came through the gate. I sprinted as fast as ever and managed to finish the line first. I was overjoyed I had achieved my goal to win all of my races. It was an awesome time!
